This is Abanindranath Tagore’s  Journey's End

Tagore is great with watercolor which is what he painted this piece with.  This piece has a great name because when I first saw this I thought this camel must be on its last journey and then I saw that the name was a Journey’s End. The way the camel is slumped over really conveys a journey’s end, its eyes are closed and the way its neck is positioned gives the painting feeling.  I also like this piece because of the colors used, the dark orange makes it seem like it was a very long hot day. if I didn’t know the name of this piece the way the camel is worn down and the position it’s in says it all

This is Hieronymus Bosch’s Christ Carrying the Cross.

What made me stop at this painting were all of the strange faces. i found out that Christ is surrounded by men with faces that look like beast and monsters because these are the men that have lost all human feeling and knowledge.  The other faces are symbols of greed, corruption of the human spirit, and the wealthy.  Bosch chose to show the faces this way to reveal how the real faces behind all the greed, and corruptions. The composition of this piece is interesting, Its full of stacked heads of different expressions with no space to see a background. I think this painting is like a good vs evil, because all the these evil sprites have surrounded Christ’s gentle easy calm face expression.  Im not sure if this is mannerstic because the figures are not really oddly shaped but they do take up space and there is no hint as to where this could have taken place. I love all the detail in the piece i can easily tell that the painting is oil. Even though the figures all over the place each one has their own space that clearly shows the expression.
